The river was up today after yesterdays rain. The days of just falling over are a thing of the past:) I am more comfortable in the ski and am now working on my stroke and cadence. My cadence today was over 80 strokes per minute. Higher than when I paddled the OC Sprinter. It think this is because I am trying to end my stroke right past my hips.
I now need to concentrate on getting my avg speed up. It seems slow compared to other times I have seen in a v10 sport. I feel fit enough, but I have no feedback concerning my mechanics. Paddling upstream was slower than usual probably because the river was up.
My Forward Stroke DVD with Greg and Oscar should come today. I will post a review after I have had a chance to watch it.

Keep it up Marco, sounds like your progressing fairly quickly. I recently acquired a V10. I paddled lifeguard spec skis for a 6 years before having both rotators rebuilt. I am presently paddling again, first time in 3 yrs. I have to agree a new level of balance is needed on the V10's. But, be patient and work on your stroke. Try to be as smooth as possible. It does seem that the stroke is shorter, it just that your covering ground so much faster. Try to remember to push through your hips. This is the part that I trying to get. Barton does this so effieciently. Congrats on your first paddle without going over. I remember that day. :) CapeMayPaddler
Thanks for the comment.....I have made progress but I want more:) Desire one of the seven sin. I really
just want to get the ski to perform up to it's level. The stroke is the key. I am not comfortable enough to get the hip push yet. I am working on that and being smooth. Hopefully the DVD will help as well. I would seek out a coach for some tips and feedback but I have not been able to find any in my area.
Marco,
As Oscar Chalupsky said (Listen to him, he is THE surf ski god), try the hip pads for balance. Epic offers them for sale in a pouch format; you add different layers to increase thickness. Easier than trial and error with varying pad thicknesses. I've spent time in the Sport and rattle around in the seat well like a BB in a tuna fish can, and I'm 6'1", 198 lbs. Just put them in last night for a friend in her Sport, and she's noticed a significant difference and can't wait to try them in the slop and chop.
As for forward stroke, you are using a wing right? Watch the Barton video and concentrate on technique every time you go out. Go slow to go fast. Good luck and stay at it!
